David Weiner’s Rare Jazz Films
 
Jazz collector and film historian David Weiner will present two hours of rare film and TV clips, showcasing jazz and pop artists of the 1920s into the 1970s. Among the featured performers will be soloists Stan Getz, Benny Carter, Benny Goodman, Teddy Wilson, Oscar Pettiford, Phil Napoleon, Benny Morton, Louis Armstrong, Mel Powell, Jo Jones, Attila Zoller & more; the bands of Stan Kenton, Humphrey Lyttelton, Roger Wolfe Kahn, Count Basie, Eddie Sauter, Lucky Millinder, Howard Lanin & the ODJB; and vocalists Ethel Waters, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Fain, Liza Morrow, Evelyn Nesbit & even William Frawley.  Plus vintage cartoons and jazz newsreels!

Ron Hutchinson Vitaphone Project

Two different shows: First show from 3:00 to 4:30PM and second show beginning at 8:00PM.
Film preservationist, historian and Vitaphone Project founder Ron Hutchinson will be presenting two different film programs on Saturday, June 27. First program will be 3:00-4:30 PM and second 8:00-10:00 PM.  Highlight will be the screening (at both shows) of the long-lost, just restored 1929 sound short ME AND THE BOYS, which features Benny Pollack band members Jimmy McPartland, Jack Teagarden, Dick Morgan, Ray Bauduc and Larry Binyon.  Program films include early sound film performances by Charlie Davis and his Orchestra, Manolo Castro and his Havana Orchestra, Richard Himber, The Boswell Sisters, Rudy Weidoft and Benny Krueger, Burns and Allen, Fleischer jazz cartoons, Vitaphone Vaudeville, clips from the just-restored 1929 Vitaphone-scored Colleen Moore silent feature WHY BE GOOD? with Venuti, Lang, Jimmy Dorsey and Phil Napoleon on the soundtrack, demo of recently found 1929 Technicolor film clips, and much more. Always last-minute surprises too.

On Saturday June 27, WILL FRIEDWALD’S CLIP JOINT presents : THE COLLECTORS BASH SPECIAL - RED HOT RARITIES AND NEW DISCOVERIES, a program of newly unearthed jazz video rarities from the early days of television, featuring FRANK SINATRA, NAT KING COLE, BENNY GOODMAN, WOODY HERMAN and many others including a special tribute to the late JULIE WILSON.
Will Friedwald's "Clip Joint" is a unique music video presentation, designed for the comparatively intimate space of a bar or a nightclub. Curated by Will Friedwald, columnist for THE WALL STREET JOURNAL and author of eight books on music and popular culture, "Clip Joint" is a live video presentation that covers the entire range and spectrum of musical performances as documented on film and video: both classic and contemporary, from jazz and Broadway to rock and pop to country & western, blues, opera, comedy and novelty songs, world music, and the Great American Songbook.

THE BOSWELL LEGACY
Special Book Signing
Friday and Saturday: Kyla Titus, granddaughter of Vet Boswell and author of THE BOSWELL LEGACY will be on hand along with David McCain, music historian and researcher to sign books.
Their table will also offer rare photographs and items from the Boswell Sisters’ personal collection, and there may be a few rare, off-the-air radio items from 1931 and 1932 NBC and CBS Boswell broadcasts available for listening.
