On May 22, 2015, Heartwood Center is providing their newly renovated Skylight Room as the venue for the final concert of the Israeli Jazz & World Music Festival week in Evanston. The Festival is presented by the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest. Several sponsors are also assisting in the week-long event production, including Heartwood Center and the Evanston West Village Business Association.
From Israeli Blues to Yemenite folk, from Turkish to modern, and from Middle Eastern to smooth, straight-ahead Jazz, festival fans can expect a diverse fusion of sounds. The third Israeli Jazz & World Music Festival will be held Thursday, May 14 through Friday, May 22, 2015, at nine different venues throughout Chicago. Each of the seven artists reflects the multicultural mosaic and collaborative spirit of Israel. The festival highlights the global hospitality and international cultural scene in Chicago.
Heartwood is proud to host the final concert, which is taking place on the final evening of the Festival, featuring Yinon Muallem and Chicago-based Donovan Mixon. Donovan Mixon was the featured musician in a successful Spring concert hosted by the Evanston West Village Business Association in April at the newly opened Curt’s Café South on Dempster Street. Future events featuring Donovan Mixon are being planned, according to the Evanston West Village Business Association throughout 2015.
