Pascalito is a New York-based French American vocalist

Mediterranean by heart. Parisian by birth. New Yorker by choice. Latin by soul. World Chanteur.

Pascalito is a New York-based French American vocalist, songwriter and leader of Neostalgia, a world jazz ensemble featuring the wonderful Brazilian pianist arranger Luiz Simas.

Pascalito was born, Pascal Sabattier, in Paris, to a musical family of Mediterranean Jewish descent. His grandfather was a Sephardic cantor and flamenco dancer in North Africa, his mother Liane Sab is a sultry-voiced jazz chanteuse and his late uncle Paul Meyer Ouhioun (Ohayon) was a well respected singer, songwriter and dancer of the Paris tango musette scene (all photographed in gallery). In the late nineties, Pascalito relocated to New York where he became a rising new talent on the local jazz and world music scene. He has since performed at such renowned venues as Le Poisson Rouge, Kitano, Metropolitan Room and French Institute.

Blending pop, jazz, bossa nova, chanson, flamenco, noir-ish night music, tango and more, he has been praised for his “handsome voice” (Time Out) and “musical melting pot” (Jazz Times). His style can suggest influences from Caetano Veloso, Nougaro, Aznavour, Henri Salvador, Abbey Lincoln and Chet Baker. While supporting his artistry consulting for various industries, Pascalito independently produced and released two prior albums.  Le Blues d’Orphée (2007) brought the emerging artist some national exposure as selections from the debut CD were licensed and featured on the popular cable network series, Burn Notice (USA) and Damages (FX). His sophomore release Neostalgia (2011), a slickly produced world pop jazz crossover, gained international radio airplay and received positive press reviews including a raving editorial in Jazz Times Magazine.

Two new video-documented live albums Forbidden Colours (EP) and Citizen Chanteur Live in NYC  recorded with Neostalgia (previewed in audio and video playlists) are to be released in the US this coming March with  a festive concert booked at the intimate midtown Manhattan venue  Metropololitan Room described as “the best of New York’s small clubs” by the New York Times.  This past summer, returning to his hometown to celebrate his European debut, Pascalito already enjoyed a successful preview of the new albums with a sold out engagement at the Sunset Sunside, one of Paris’s most renowned jazz clubs, a true “neostalgic” moment for the New York French transplant. The two hour-evening show was also filmed and recorded leaving material for a potential future sequel release Citizen Chanteur Vol 2 Live in Paris.
