In the weekend edition of The Wall Street Journal, I interview Ginger Baker on his favorite song. He picked an album—Jazz at Massey Hall, and the song A Night in Tunisiain particular. During our chat, the English drummer for Cream and Blind Faith and leader of a half-dozen other rock bands, cited the 1953 recording featuring Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus and Max Roach as his guiding influence—especially Roach's conversational drums. You can read Ginger's thoughts here, free.
