The Echo Jazz 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award goes to the jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player Dusko Goykovich. This is the fifth time that the German Phono Academy is presenting its jazz awards.
The Echo Jazz for best ensemble goes to the saxophonist Heinz Sauer and the pianist Michael Wollny in the “National” category and to the Rudresh Mahanthappa Gamak Ensemble in the “International” category. The German singer, guitarist and big band leader Monika Roscher is to receive an Echo Jazz as “Newcomer of the Year”. Alongside the prize-winners Sauer, Wollny and Goykovich, the gala awards ceremony will also feature the trumpeter Till Brönner, the guitarist Peter Fessler and the Echo Jazz Allstars.
