DeKalb takes on some N’Awlins flavor

DeKALB – DeKalb's first New Orleans Jazz Weekend June 7 and 8 will feature A Wing and A Prayer Dixieland Orchestra in three unique settings.

After stints playing restaurants, ice cream socials, parades, funerals, worship services, barbecues, shows and festivals, the seven-piece ensemble will kick off its 20th season in the DeKalb area with a New Orleans-style Jazz Party from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at  Faranda's, 302 Grove St. Ragtime and jazz pianist Pauline Cultra and New Orleans jazz clarinetist Brian Patti will be guest performers.

Guests at the party can experience traditional and Dixieland jazz music in a cabaret setting. There will be a cash bar and a dance floor. Tickets are $20. Early registration at www.justmakeithappen-dekalb.com or buying tickets at Faranda's in advance guarantees preferred seating. At-the-door sales open at 6 p.m. that evening.
