MISHAWAKA A Michiana high school is among only 12 in the nation to be selected for a prestigious jazz festival in March.
The Penn High School Advanced Jazz Ensemble is going to Savannah, Georgia to compete for a top honor. The festival is invite-only, so the only fees associated are the travel costs. The band needs to raise $15,000 for a bus and hotel stay in downtown Savannah.
The jazz band is made up of 22 sophomores-seniors from Penn High School. The group plays professional literature, and learns through a curricular course that meets twice a week.
