Kyle Eastwood has been an accomplished jazz bassist since his 1998 debut release, “From There to Here,” with a prodigious list of international appearances and a 10-film soundtrack resume that ranges from the haunting title track on “Gran Torino” to the jaunty “Knock, Knock” on “Flags of Our Fathers.”
Those two film titles, his last name and powerful jawline are all the dots you would need to connect Eastwood back to his paternal musical influences. But, while considerable –– the two Eastwoods were regulars at the Monterey Jazz Festival, where VIP access to luminaries such as Sarah Vaughan and Dizzy Gillespie was easy –– the son long ago stepped out of the shadow of the father.
On March 18, Eastwood will bring music from his well-received 2013 release, “The View From Here” (Jazz Village), to Jazziz Nightlife (201 Plaza Real, Boca Raton). The 11 new compositions, performed on stand-up and electric bass, are “full of charm, Kyle’s original compositions and musicianship brimming with flair and quite a bit of funk,” says London’s Daily Express.
