Curated by Dr. Hsing-Lih Chou, this year’s sampler will present demonstrations of dance from China, Korea, Taiwan, India and beyond. Starts at 1:00 PM.
Sun Feb 16th  Workshop: Calligraphy on Silk
For Families: Welcome in the Year of the Horse with a calligraphy workshop lead by Asian arts specialist Dr. Hsing-Lih Chou. Learn basic calligraphy to write your new year’s wishes on Chinese silk fans. Starts at 3:00 PM.
Fri Feb 21st  The Jazz Age & The Charleston - 1920’s SPEAKEASY MUSIC
Vocalist Barbara Rosene and her musicians transport you back to The Jazz Age in 1920, the era of Prohibition, the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby, and speakeasy clubs, when “The Charleston” was the dance craze of America. Starts at 8:00 PM.
Sun Feb 23rd  Live from the POEMobile
For Families: Celebrate the Lunar New Year with performances by Korean poets and traditional musicians and dancers. Poetry performances will be accompanied by projections from the POEMobile of original Korean poems with English translations, onto Flushing Town Hall’s garden wall. Starts at 6:30 PM.
Fri Feb 28th  13 Moons
For Families: 13 Moons features GrayHawk Perkins, a New Orleansborn Native American from the Choctaw and Houma tribes, who will perform a unique blend of blues, folk and jazz, intertwined with tribal rhythms, language and storytelling, with the France-based Mezcal Jazz Unit band. Starts at 7:00 PM.
