SACO - On Tuesday, Feb. 11, Thornton Academy in Saco will host the district jazz band festival. More than 30 bands and combos will be on hand. The event is open to the public and Thornton is scheduled to perform on the Garland Auditorium stage at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door.
In addition, Thornton scored well at the Berklee College of Music Jazz Festival, held this past weekend. The band was in the top 15 of all the bands participating and band member Alex Pickering was singled out to receive a Judges Choice award.
