Peter Ind Celebrates his 85th Birthday at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club 28th July

Peter Ind – the internationally renowned Double Bass player is 85 years old this month.

It has been an extraordinary life:

In the 40s as a teenager in London playing piano & double bass at the nightly servicemen dances. The 40s and 50s Working on the Queen Mary as a jazz musician going to America and eventually going to live there – his first gig was at the original Birdland playing with Lennie Tristano.

In the 60s living in Big Sur California with a young family – playing, painting and writing about energy in this idyllic spot. By the 70’s back in London playing with such European jazz greats as Martin Taylor and Stefan Grapelli and beginning a recording company.

In the 80s and 90s creating and managing the renowned Jazz, African and Latin venues the Bass Clef and Tenor Clef in Hoxton, London and running the recording studio Wave. In the 90s and the Millennium – Still playing and painting but also focusing on teaching and masterclasses and writing, including a book about Lennie Tristano.

And he is still out there playing and promoting jazz – his next gig:

Hosted by IAN SHAW. PETER IND the internationally renowned double bassist will be playing with IAN SHAW Vocals/ Piano and DAVID PRESTON guitar in what has become a regular and innovative group since the recording of Ian’s Abbey Road album.

For this special lunchtime celebration of Peter’s 85th birthday there will be some special guest spots -  LIANE CARROLL vocals/piano, PETER KING alto sax and GARY CROSBY double bass 

This is really going to be special – various musicians from the different generations  that Peter has worked with will join him for some interesting guest spots – including a unique double bass duo with Gary Crosby. And you don’t even have to pay the congestion charge or be red eyed by the time you leave.
