Fresh from an acclaimed performance with her sister Ingrid at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Vancouver Island-raised jazz musician Christine Jensen is thrilled to be back this summer as director of the Summer Jazz Intensive with the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music and for a star-studded faculty concert.
“I’m really happy that we’re able to do the jazz camp and concert again in Nanaimo, and I’m thrilled to be working with Ken Lister, Joel Miller and my sister Ingrid,” Jensen said. “I am also grateful that Nanaimo Conservatory of Music is hosting the event for the second year. We would really like to make this an annual event.”
The camp, scheduled from Aug. 19-23, is aimed at aspiring jazz musicians ages 14 to adult.
Lister, Christine Jensen and Ingrid Jensen, and Miller belong to an elite class of internationally renowned Canadian musicians and composers, and share a deep connection to central Vancouver Island.
The Jensen sisters, natives of Cedar who now reside in Montreal and New York, are excited to work with Nanaimo’s next generation of jazz musicians.
