Chesky’s stylistic approach explores the depths of dissonance and rhythm alike. A phenomenal lineup joins Chesky on piano: Peter Washington on bass, Billy Drummond on drums, Javon Jackson on tenor, and Jeremy Pelt on trumpet. The subliminal blending of instruments forms a satisfying color to the dissonant tones. Sensibly constructed, Jazz in the New Harmonic is full of inciting ideas and satisfyingly soulful.
