Arhoolie was started by Chris Strachwitz with an LP of Texas Songster Mance Lipscomb released in 1960. Chris went on to record Cajun and Zydeco Music and Tex Mex music at a time when most folklorists were concentrating mainly on Blues and Appalachian music. The concert was held over 3 days at the Freight and Salvage, a coffeehouse in Berkeley that's hosted many any Arhoolie's artists since 1968!
