Initially briefly interested in guitar rock, Sal La Rocca discovered the jazz genre in the early 1980s. He traded the guitar for the bass and taught himself the jazz idiom, inspired by the model of Paul Chambers. La Rocca tirelessly built on his abilities as a musician, and it did not take long before he was noticed playing alongside Toots Thielemans, Philip Catherine, Nathalie Loriers, and Dani Klein (Vaya Con Dios).
At barely 23, Miami-born singer Cécile McLorin Salvant is steadily conquering international audiences with her expressive interpretations and phenomenal vocal technique. In 2010 she won the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington D.C. and since has performed with renowned artists such as Rodney Whitaker, Jacky Terrasson and Wynton Marsalis.
