The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg will present an exciting mix of music and dance with performances by jazz artists the Dave Leonhardt Trio and tap dancer Shelley Oliver, on Friday, Feb. 22, at noon and 8 p.m.
The performances are part of the Theatre’s 2012-2013 Club28 series. This year’s series features a terrific lineup of shows and styles, featuring tap dancing, acoustic-folk music and jazz.
The David Leonhardt Trio has performed around the world with some of the biggest names in jazz. The critically acclaimed acoustic ensemble plays a blend of mainstream and modern jazz. The group truly shines in creative improvisation, playing both jazz standards and originals that comprise an exciting and entertaining musical experience.
Canadian-born tap dancer, choreographer and educator Shelley Oliver offers more than 20 years of experience as a professional artist. She has appeared internationally with some of the legends of the tap world. Together, she and the Trio blend their art forms to create a delightful treat for the ears and eyes.
Tickets cost $10 for the noon performance and $30 for the 8 p.m. show. The noon performance is set in on-stage, theatre-style seating and is approximately one hour in length. The evening show, set in a relaxed on-stage cabaret setting, is approximately two hours long.
