USC Upstate professor Akkermann named series editor

Gregg Akkermann, University of South Carolina Upstate's associate professor of music and director of jazz studies and commercial music, has been named series editor for a new series of books, “Experiencing Music,” published by New York's Scarecrow Press.

The series will feature books written by performing musicians to describe the act of creating, playing and recording their art. Akkermann's job entails selecting specific topics, recruiting authors, editing content and writing forewords for about four books per year.
