Grammy-winning producer and
musician Don Was is heading back home to talk music history and whatever else
comes to mind.
The Detroit-raised Was will
be a guest lecturer Sept. 26 at University of Michigan-Dearborn. He'll speak
and answer questions in a history of jazz class taught by Detroit bassist
Marion Hayden, an adjunct assistant professor of jazz and contemporary
improvisation.
Later that day, Was will do
the same during a session that's free and open to the public. That will be held
at 6 p.m. in the school's College of Arts, Sciences and Letters Building.
Was has produced records
for the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, John Mayer, Lucinda Williams,
Bonnie Raitt and the B-52s.
He was named chief creative
officer of Blue Note Records this year.
