Label anniversary: ​​50 years of Impulse!


The label, that since 1960 many jazz trends continued, celebrates an anniversary this year, including a new CD box and the publication of unknown John Coltrane recordings!


Impulse commits! This year's 50th Birthday. And would like the legendary producerCreed Taylor built the record label of the year by celebrating. Moreover, as John Coltrane, the undisputed figurehead of the Impulse! Roster, in September 2011 his85th Birthday would have equal opportunity is a double celebration for before. This is done in appropriately grand style! 


A message should jazz world especially electrify: part one published in April 4-CD box set titled "First Impulse: The Creed Taylor Collection" are three previously unreleased recordings by John Coltrane with the trumpeter, composer and arranger Cal Massey and a large all-star ensemble made before he recorded his first Impulse! album "Africa / Brass". 50 years only a few insiders knew anything, that these recordings existed.

Now they appear in the Anniversary box together with the first six pulses produced by Creed Taylor albums: Coltrane's "Africa / Brass", Gil Evans' "Out Of The Cool", Oliver Nelson's "Blues And The Abstract Truth, Kai Winding & JJ Johnson's "The Great Kai & JJ," Ray Charles' "Genius + Soul = Jazz" and Kai Winding's "The Incredible Kai Winding Trombones." 

As additional activities for the Impulse! Anniversary will be announced for another year, the first publications of various John Coltrane concerts and a new series of albums with particularly looking labels. Jazz fans can look forward to a "lively 2011".
