Charlie Haden Quartet West Celebrates 25th Anniversary
As Charlie Haden Quartet West turns 25, the group has brought in a number of guests for its silver anniversary disc, Sophisticated Ladies (EmArcy/Decca), which is being released on March 22.

New York Residency

Bassist Ben Allison will being performing every Tuesday night this year at New York’s Kush. He will also release his 10th album, Action-Refraction (Palmetto), on April 12.

Chamber Music America
Awards Jazz Grants

The New York-based organization Chamber Music America (CMA) has announced that it will award $285,000 in grants to 23 jazz artists, ensembles and presenters in the United States and France.

New John Coltrane Tracks Discovered
Three previously unheard and unreleased John Coltrane tracks have been discovered and will be made available in April on First Impulse: The Creed Taylor Collection(Impulse/Universal), a four-CD set that celebrates the 50th anniversary of Impulse Records.

Kermit Driscoll Releases Debut
Kermit Driscoll, a go-to bassist in New York for more than 30 years, is releasing his debut as a leader,Reveille (Nineteen-Eight), on April 5. His ensemble includes guitarist Bill Frisell, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and pianist Kris Davis.
