Audrey Silver Quartet at Miles Cafe

"Silver’s....voice is like pure sterling. Her phrasing is exquisite, her clarity and enunciation on par with the great Jo Stafford and her breath control – a talent so often, and so wrongfully, overlooked – rivals Sinatra’s.” - Christopher Loudon, JazzTimes.com
The highlight was Silver’s captivating interpretation of “The Meaning of the Blues.” Ken Franckling, JazzTimes.com, Review of Tanglewood Jazz Cafe Performance (9/5/10)

On her stunning sophomore recording (Dream Awhile), New York native and award-winning vocalist Audrey Silver presented a collection of beloved standards to critical acclaim.  As one reviewer stated, "Audrey Silver has a voice that’s unforgettable. [Her] voice is deep and rich, and she has a way of really emoting that makes the songs more intimate.... Audrey’s... voice of gold create(s) an album that jazz fans and casual listeners won’t want to miss." (CD Review Blog)
For her appearance at The Miles Cafe, Audrey will be performing songs from her first two recordings (Here in My Arms and Dream Awhile) as well as works by Bob Dorough, Cole Porter and Duke Ellington. Her band includes pianist Joshua Wolff who, upon moving to New York from Seattle, became one of Mark Murphy's preferred accompanists.  In-demand bassist, Paul Beaudry has performed and toured with many jazz luminaries including Steve Turre, Wycliffe Gordon, Antonio Hart, Charlie Persip, Winard Harper, Dena DeRose, Allan Harris, Cynthia Scott, Eric Lewis, and Miles Griffith. Drummer, Vito Lesczak has collaborated with some of today's greatest jazz singers including Andy Bey, Mark Murphy and Hillary Gardner.
