She can sell a power ballad as well as Whitney, Diana and Patti.

She phrases…(and) never loses sight of the subject at hand. At the same time she holds back the force of her tart-timbered voice until the right dramatic moment to unleash its considerable power.
- New York Times

Sophisticated, soulful and fun, Nicole Henry has been internationally inspiring audiences with her beautiful, uplifting voice for years.   Jazz Hot France described Nicole as having “grace, presence, and a superb and sumptuous voice…a style unseen these days.”  She has toured thirteen countries and released three international Top 10-selling jazz CDs, including her latest The Very Thought of You, which reached #7 on the U.S. Billboard Jazz Chart.

In 2004, Nicole released her solo debut CD, The Nearness of You to critical acclaim.  In Japan, after climbing to #2 on HMV Japan Jazz Charts, and staying in the TOP 10 for three months HMV Japan named Nicole “Best New Jazz Artist of 2004.”  Her follow-up CD, Teach Me Tonight with the Eddie Higgins Trio reached #1 at HMV Japan, and earned her their honor of “Best Vocal Jazz Album of 2005.”

One of Nicole’s most recent projects was her extremely successful monthly show at the Metropolitan Room in New York which spanned 13 months, from May 2009 to May 2010.  She received rave reviews from music industry mega critics Stephen Holden of the NY Times and Chuck Taylor former writer and senior editor of Billboard magazine.  Her shows drew such attention on the scene that in less than a year’s time, the 25th Annual Bistro Awards honored Nicole with the “Outstanding Jazz Vocalist” Award, where she joined good company with many of the best NY nightlife performers.

Some of her highlight career events include having her CD featured on all transcontinental Delta Airlines flights; receiving the Miami-Dade County In the Company of Women “Arts and Entertainment Award;” enjoying an ongoing  wardrobe sponsorship from international fashion designer Nicole Miller; featured performances at Lincoln Center, NY; a 14-concert run with the Duke Ellington Orchestra in Tokyo; and national television coverage on FOX during her a cappella version of the National Anthem at the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl and international coverage on CBS of her Anthem performance during the 2010 Sony Ericsson Open Women’s Finals.

Additional Background Information- Nicole Henry
Born in Philadelphia, Nicole was raised in the arts haven of Bucks County with a mom who played classical piano and made sure Nicole and her sister played at least one instrument. Along with taking ballet and singing in the school and church choirs, she studied cello for six years and sang the national anthem at virtually every high school basketball and football game.

She earned a full academic scholarship to University of Miami, where she studied architecture for two years before changing majors to advertising and theater.  While in college, she recorded songs for a dance music DJ/producer named Noel Sanger and went on the road performing at night clubs.  Then in 1998, one of their songs “Miracle,” was on Billboard's Dance Music Charts for eight weeks, reaching #8.

It was then she realized a far reaching music career was possible. "I knew I wanted to use art to affect people's lives. And that's what I can accomplish through my singing…help people relate to their feelings, and then celebrate those feelings."

Committing to a full-time entertainment career in 2000, the singer/songwriter began producing original material and took the opportunity to tour the U.S. as a background vocalist with RCA band, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise. By 2002 Miami New Times had named her "Best Local Solo Musician."

In addition to her singing gigs, Nicole began booking lead acting roles in national television commercial campaigns for Verizon Wireless, Amtrak, McDonald's (with Venus and Serena Williams), Air Jamaica, Rite Aid Pharmacies, Hershey's Swoops, Sears Optical and others. She was also the lead actress in the feature-length, independent films, In Plain Sight and Chapter and Verse, and starred in a four-part pilot of a children's television series, The Lemonade Stand, aired on select US stations. She also starred in the independent short film Miami Chronicles sponsored by the Independent Film Channel. All three of these films feature original songs by Nicole.
