Cécile McLorin Salvant, 21, won this year's Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition, the finals of which were held on October 4th in Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center. Salvant was born in Miami, Florida, but currently lives in France, where she studies at the Aix-en-Provence Conservatory of Music.You can hear clips on Salvant's myspace page, or learn more on her website.
