Funkasaurus Rex was created by Tenor Saxophonist Joey Berkley in 2005

"I said Funk with Soul, with a Groove AND...I want it played by Musicians."
anomynous circa. 2005

"Guess what? Sometimes a musician does a gig for the money, sometimes it's a lot of the time. But nobody becomes a musician to make money, unless you're nuts, or a hack."
anomynous (still) circa. 400B.C.

"Funkasaurus Rex is the band and this is the gig: play with great musicians, enjoy the challenge to create music of value and have fun. Some money would be nice though."
Funkasaurus Rex... right now!

Funkasaurus Rex was created by Tenor Saxophonist Joey Berkley in 2005…
Joey called upon a group of colleagues, top players on the NY “music-scene” , to form this exciting jazz-funk band which injects “Jazz” sophistication with ‘Rhythm ‘n Blues’ and ‘Funk’ grooves. Great solos and ensemble work are always the band’s focus. Funkasaurus Rex features a dynamic 5-piece horn section sound along with a versatile rhythm section groove to create Jazz with power, precision and originality.

Funkasaurus Rex is a testament to musicians who play for the love of playing. Each member of the band is a heavy-weight in their own right who pour their hearts into this project, motivated by the challenging musical arrangements. They work together in presenting a uniquely demanding body of material that thrills a listening audience while also moving it to dance.

The musical direction of the band brings great R & B / Funk songs from the past into a new era with a jazz perspective and inventive, fresh arrangements. Plus, our original material also comes out of that lineage and maintains the artistic integrity that our audience has come to expect - quality is the key. Whether it’s a well-loved classic or a classy original, these veteran players are bringing the REAL funk into a new era. From clubs to concert halls, Funkasaurus Rex provides their audiences with the highest level of expertise and dedication to convey their music as an art form. REAL Funky Music ain't extinct!
