From Kat Parra
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share some very special news with you. Besides having the honor to perform at this weekend's San Jose Jazz Festival (noon on Sunday, Latin Stage) and then traveling down to Long Beach to perform a showcase at the Western Arts Alliance Conference on Sept. 1st-- all amazing things in and of themselves!-- we have been invited to perform in the International Jewish Music Festival competition in Amsterdam at the end of October!
Out of over 100 bands that applied, 24 bands from 11 countries were chosen and we were one of only two bands chosen from the US. It is a huge honor and quite a fantastic opportunity to help get us attention on an international level. But the catch is that we have to pay all expenses to get there. I am trying to raise $6000 to cover the airfare for 4 of us ($4000) and daily expenses (food, housing and transportation) while we are in Amsterdam for 4 days.
Can you help? I know times are tight for everyone and money has to be spent carefully. Believe me, I know this on a very personal level! :) But if we could get everyone to chip in just a little bit, it would go a long way in helping to bring our music to a wider audience. I was struggling to ask for money while we are all going through such hard times, but then I thought about how important music, and the arts overall, is to help keep community together.
For me, music and art is what helps to bind us and keep us grounded in our moments of great happiness and great sadness. I am so proud to be able to share this music with the world and no matter what, I have so appreciated all the support you have given to me since I chose to quit my corporate job and devote myself to music full-time.
Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated (and rewarded!--see the "perks" section of the indiegogo site.) Please click HERE to go to the indiegogo website to make a donation. I wish I could say this is tax deductible, but I do not have non-profit status. Thank you for taking the time to read this. :)
Love
