AN evening of swinging jazz from the 1950s and 60s awaits audiences at the Ilminster Arts Centre tonight. French-Canadian guitarist Dominic Ashworth will join popular jazz act the Craig Milverton Trio for a celebration of the work of legends such as Joe Pass, Barney Kessel, Herb Ellis and Oscar Peterson.
Dominic won Jazz Guitarist of the Year at the 2006 Birmingham Jazz Awards and has toured and recorded with the likes of Carol Kidd, Michael Garrick and Julian Marc Stringle. As one of Britain's top jazz pianists, Craig has played with some of the biggest names in the business, including Acker Bilk, Jean Toussaint and five years with the late George Melly.
The duo will take to the stage at 8pm, accompanied by drummer Nick Millward and Al Swainger on bass.
Tickets priced £12 are available from the box office on 01460-54973.

Craig Milverton, British piano genius, paid tribute to his idol Oscar Peterson at an Oscar Night concert promoted by SootsJazz at Andover Lights, Hampshire, on January 25 2008. Craig exhibits the full range of his keyboard skill on this solo performance of Someone to Watch Over Me. For the rest of the concert he was accompanied by dynamic trio Dominic Ashworth (guitar), Bobby Worth (drums) and Luke Steele (bass). The live concert was recorded and will be released on CD later this year. Full details at http:www.craigmilverton.co.uk
