The Jazz Education Network (JEN) has released the schedule for its inaugural conference at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, May 20–22. Along with hosting an array of educators, musicians, students and industry representatives, several concerts are planned.
Highlights include the Clayton Brothers Quintet on May 22 and Rufus Reid’s Out Front Trio on May 21. Gerald Clayton and Stefon Harris will also host a panel discussion on the state of the jazz musician in the 21st century.
“Jazz is the legacy of our musical heritage. Our organization is dedicated to developing the jazz audience as well as promoting and advancing education,” said Mary Jo Papich, president of JEN and Fine Arts Curriculum Director at Niles Schools in Illinois. “The JEN conference is the perfect place for educators to network with performers, industry peers and jazz enthusiasts.” - For more info go to http://www.jazzednet.org/
