Eric Plaks - pianist - has lived his entire adult life in Harlem, where he has split his time between teaching music in the New York City public school system - including his current gig directing the noted Bronx Lab Jazz Orchestra - and his own performing and recording projects.

As of 2009, Eric is seen regularly throughout the NYC area, including in his regular Tuesday night engagement at Little Branch in Greenwich Village. Eric's discography to date includes three self-produced discs, The Witch Man (2003), Rooftop Reveries (2004), and Eric Plaks with Strings (2007). Since 2007, Eric has been adding avant-garde and free improvisation elements to his previously more mainstream style, and his next recording, his first on a label, is an as-yet untitled avant-garde effort on for Cadence(2009).
