NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma has planned a tribute to late college basketball Hall of Famer Wayman Tisdale, who died of cancer last year. Country star Toby Keith, who sang a duet on Tisdale's final jazz album, will perform at halftime of the Sooners' game Saturday against No. 9 Texas. He'll be singing the song, "Cryin' For Me (Wayman's Song)," which he wrote as a tribute to Oklahoma's career scoring leader.
The university says Tisdale's family will attend the game and his band will hold a pregame concert. Tisdale was the first player to earn All-America honors from The Associated Press in his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons and he then went on to play 12 seasons in the NBA for Indiana, Sacramento and Phoenix. His contemporary jazz album reached No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
