Martin Ehrling, artist and illustrator, living in Stockholm, Sweden

Martin Ehrling, artist and illustrator, living in Stockholm, Sweden. Martin Ehrling´s speciality is to depict musicians from around the world within folk music, world music and jazz. The music portraits are created on the spot, at concerts, with the intention of capturing the energy, atmosphere and physical expression of the music and are painted directly in inc on water colour paper. The artist Martin Ehrling is well-known for documenting concerts and music festivals from stageside around Scandinavia, Cuba and Brazil.

Martin Ehrling worked as an illustrator for Sweden’s main newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, for 16 years. As an illustrator of school books he works for the main publishing houses in Sweden - Natur och Kultur, Bonnier Utbildning, Almquist & Wiksell - and Macmillan Education in Oxford. He has produced exhibitions and books for the Ethnographic Museum in Stockholm, Stockholm’s Culture House, UNICEF and SIDA (Swedish International Development Association). He has also worked with art projects, educational programs and children’s books in Botswana, Eritrea, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
