Vocal group formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1942. The Cariocas have school in the art of singing voice in pop music, mixing rhythmic polyphony and effects. Influenced by other groups like the Bando da Lua, Hell's Angels and Four Aces and a Joker, debuted on the talent show by Renato Murce in Radio World, where, on the second attempt, they were champions. If submitted to the director of Radio Nacional, Radames Gnattali, and were hired in 1946 to join the program One Million Melodies. They were on the radio for 20 years.
Ismael Neto, one of its founders (along with Severino Filho, Salvador and Tarquin), began writing in the '50s, producing hits such as "Waltz of a City", with Antonio Maria. Was the main arranger of the group until his premature death at age 30, when the arrangements have to be signed, mostly by Severino Filho, his brother. The Cariocas are very popular with the repertoire of bossa nova, innovating in the way of interpreting the style.
In 1997 was released the CD "Bossa Brasileira", nominated for the Sharp. The following year the band played shows in Miami along with Leny Andrade, Wanda Sá e Roberto Menescal, and in 1999 participated in a track from the CD "Crooner" by Milton Nascimento. In 2001 they released the CD "The Classics Cariocas" very well received by audiences and critics, winner of the guys in the group category of MPB. In 2002 the set was in Japan (Tokyo) and the U.S. (Washington, Philadelphia and New York) released the CD - "oscariocas.com.bossa," nominated for TimOs Cariocas:

Eloi Vicente - 4th voice and guitar.
