Tatiana Mayfield....

THE TATIANA MAYFIELD QUINTET Smooth, refreshing, and unique is how many have described the sound of the Tatiana Mayfield Quintet, lead by the 22-year old jazz vocalist from Fort Worth, Texas. Mayfield is a University of North Texas student working on a degree in Vocal Jazz Studies where she studies jazz voice under singer/songwriter/arranger Rosana Eckert (rosanaeckert.com) and is also a member of the UNT Jazz Singers I ensemble lead by the great composer/vocal arranger Paris Rutherford. Most recently (May 2009) she was noted as the "College Outstanding Performance" winner in the vocal jazz category for DownBeat magazine.

She also received the award for most "Most Outstanding Undergraduate Jazz Student" at UNT this year (2009). Other great moments in her career include receiving a National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) Award for Jazz Voice in 2006, performing in the Jazz By the Boulevard Festival in Fort Worth (2007 & 2008), and performing on the “Showtime At The Apollo” television show in 2004. The Quintet is making it's mark in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, often performing at several well-known lounges, clubs and restuarants as well as local events.

They have performed in several jazz festivals in 2008 such as the Gulf Coast Jazz and Heritage Festival in Mobile, Alabama; Jazz By The Boulevard in Fort Worth, Texas; the Fort Worth Jazz and Heritage Festival in Stop 6 Fort Worth, Texas; the Cottonwood Arts Festival in Richardson, Texas; and the Texas Jazz Festival in Corpus Christi, Texas. Be on the lookout for their 1st album, "From All Directions" to debut in August. The band includes other North Texas current and former jazz students: Erskine Hawkins on Piano, Joel Cross on Guitar, Mikel Combs on Bass, and Brendan O'Neill on Drums. ..";....I
