Hot Jazz From New Orleans To Israel
Featuring:
Evan Christopher is, at the age of 32, a refreshingly bright new light on the national and international jazz scene. He combines, virtuosity, immaculate taste and the youthful resources of energy and enthusiasm with a deep commitment to capturing the full range of musical possibilities that come from having strong roots in the idioms of early Jazz and the Creole clarinet style.
Trumpeter Duke Heitger came to New Orleans in 1991 to join Jacques Gauthe’s Creole Rice Jazz Band and since that time he has become one of the most sought after players on the international scene, performing and recording around the world with a diverse roster of musicians.
Idiomatically conversant with modern and traditional jazz, classical music, Brazilian choro, Argentine tango, and an expansive timeline of Afro-Cuban styles, Anat Cohen has established herself as one of the primary voices of her generation on both the tenor saxophone and clarinet since arriving in New York City in 1999.
Ehud Asherie was born in Israel in 1979. He lived in Italy for six years before moving with his family to New York at the age of nine. As a child, he took piano lessons, but his real interest in playing began when, at fourteen, he discovered Smalls jazz club in Greenwich Village. On weekends, he would stay at the club from ten at night to six in the morning, listening to the headliners and playing in the late-night jam sessions.
