The Players Who Shaped the Sound of Jazz Trumpet.Taí a good tip for those who enjoy this wonderful resource and indissossiável of jazz: the trumpet. In this book, written by the great Scott Yanow, is more than 500 profiles of the greatest trumpeters of all time. The musicians are from all eras of jazz, starting with the New Orleans Jazz (as Louis Armstrong), through swing, bebop, free jazz, until the contemporary era has Wynton Marsalis as the greatest exponent of this instrument. The book also provides intriguing stories about the personalities of the trumpet: and the highlights are the great figures as Miles Davis and Chet Baker, which are linked to more unique styles of playing the instrument than the technical development of the same. All this collection was developed with an investigation based on statements from fellow musicians, club owners, sound recordings, biographies and a good technical evaluation of the musicians. Scott Yanow still leaves a list of disks where you can hear the soils of each musician described in the book.
