CEDAR WALTON QUARTET
Legendary pianist and composer of such jazz classics as‘Bolivia’ and ‘Ugetsu’ who provided the harmonic springboard for the acclaimed three horn line-up of Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller and Wayne Shorter in the 1963 edition of Art Blakey’ Jazz Messengers. Since the 1970s, Cedar has toured the world with his own quartet, becoming an audience favourite and featuring high calibre front-line players such as Bob Berg, Eddie Harris, Harold Land and Javon Jackson. On this occasion his quartet will be graced by Oscar Peterson’s last drummer, the exuberantly swinging Alvin Queen, ex-Blakey saxophonist Jean Toussaint and bassist Dudley Phillips.

Hosted by the wonderfully charismatic and talented soul singer Natalie Williams and her band, Soul Family Sunday offers the chance to catch some of the best R&B, soul and jazz musicians in the UK up close and personal. While guests vary from month to month, there is always the opportunity to hear music of the highest quality where the stars of the British scene showcase their material in an exciting ad hoc setting.
