Documentary film carried out by Chet Baker
Let's get lost (in Spanish perdámonos) is a film on the life and personality of the nortemaricano trompetista Chet Baker, representative of the denominated Jazz of the Coast the West or cool jazz, cold and contemplative jazz (romantic).
Difficult it is for who knows his discography to judge to the person behind that fragile voice and to touch calm of Baker. Hardened Mujeriego and drug addict of the good ones try of beginning to aim, in a frank conversation and something placed, to recreate its life with questions of specific and memorable episodes of this musician.
Here we found out first source of its desertion of the army, of its musical stamp, its love affairs and their taste by the sweet and disquieting life, of its manipulating character according to testimony of one of its spouses, the episode of the fight whose balance was to lose the set of teeth, of its tours by Europe and a long etc.
Baker was surpassing between the musicians of their generation. While they sacrificed hours of test, Chet to memorise single and always touched with much naturalness.
After his time more promissory than he goes from 1954 - 1958, Baker travels to Europe falling here in several episodes that are better to forget. Towards aims of the sixty and beginning of the seventy its talent tries its return to the rotation almost against the account giving drops, for many, always surrounded by excellent musicians and recording for varied record seals.
Chet never surpassed its addictions but always it seemed to betray the confidence that deposited in him their pairs and friendly.
It is interesting how in the USA a great cult exists towards the “losers” that see the American dream a trasnochada idea once in a while resorted by the American political class. In Literature and North American filmografía she is full of these “marginalized” that gain to the life with the arms of the good bourgeois but from the periphery, not looking for the trick to him to control and to find the recognition finally so yearned for. All the previous one pleases perfectly in the profile of Chet Baker, everything an icon of the jazz.
To sum up, a documentary very interesting revealer and of the musician.
This film was spread in the festival In-Edit 2008, Center of Extension of the Catholic University. Thanks to quines they made possible east excellent festival of documentary musical comedies.
