Discovered by Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon can easily be considered the greatest of today trombonist front of his contemporaries: not a chance that the trombone already collecting awards and citations from spotlight as downbeat and other magazines. Wycliffe was sideman in Wynton Marsalis since the end of the 80s more or less until 2000 when the legendary Wynton Marsalis septet is broken. Wicliffe was also star of the seminal Lincoln Center Jazz Ochestra, big band of Wynton.
Currently, Wycliffe Gordon has been pursuing work as an educator, conductor, composer and arranger, from highlighting a few musicians of his generation: already in the band of Wynton, the young trombonist was key as a great soloist and arranger, see records like In this House, On This Morning and Wynton plays Monk, among others. After having been off the band of Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, already established, he began to develop its work hard soil, and an important member of the progressive group Jazz Composers Collective in New York, and develop partnerships with musicians like John Allred , Marcus Roberts, Randy Sandke, Maurice Hines and Jay Leonhart.
