Juan Alzate, plays jazz....

Juan began to be a musician since before birth, but his instrument-the tenor-saxophone came to him for fourteen years. From then on it was the fervent belief that music was his life. He studied at the Conservatorio de las Rosas and the Popular School of Fine Arts. Life opened the doors of the Caribbean to integrate their music to the frenzy of hot rhythms and blacks. After some personal disaster, was studying at Berklee College and also with teachers of the caliber of Jim Odgren, Darryl Winsman, Jerry Bergonzi and Dave Liebman. One of the wonders of being a musician is that you can touch the universal, you can make friends with everybody. Juan has shared the stage with the Elastic Band, Mark Levine, Antonio SanchezJohn Benitez, Igancio Berroa, Bruce Forman, Mili Bermejo, Dan Greenspan, Victor Mendoza, Muhal Richard Abrams, Greg Osby, Hugh Fraser ... He also has performed with symphony orchestras in Mexico and Venezuela.

Luck favors the bold and Juan knows it: has had academic scholarships and awards, but, above all, has always enjoyed the support of the people who listened and followed along their path as a jazz musician. As loves jazz and loves people, has conducted workshops to bring this discipline to stakeholders.
Juan has recorded five albums: The echo in the skin, where they first registered their work as a jazz group leader, the second under the sign of jazz, with the impressive pianist Mark Levine, the third Self, with his own compositions and was reprinted; Speaking in jazz, where improvisation jointly with Mexican poetry, and Minnewanka, recorded in Canada in 2005.
Always goes through the streets with their instruments and their scores, with their laughter and their stubborn crazy joy. Teaches at the Conservatory. Toca where it is called. With the deep faith of the crazy mystical, with the fragility of cronopios, come on.
